US to Brazil: 'Legitimate questions' about NSARepaired? They didn't even offer an apology Translation 1: We did it and we will continue doing it. You're no more than an annoyance. This is a blatant lie. He isn't doing anything to stop the NSA. I think this kind of damage control isn 't enough and won't work.

I started writing a comment, but it got blatantly political. From my viewpoint, Romney, Obama, Bush, and Clinton look more alike than different. Wayne madhatter.ca

Do it man, post it here or as another post in your blog. I have read your NSA Spying Scandal - An Analysis. Wonderful reading and that What Are The Implications part is right to the point. Thanks for sharing it.

If sysadmins with access to the servers are located in the US, physical location of the servers may be insufficient protection from NSA snooping, though it makes a wire-snipping front end harder.

"....though it makes a wire-snipping front end harder." Um yeah, could you explain this in non-geek terms? Much appreciated.

"....though it makes a wire-snipping front end harder." Um yeah, could you explain this in non-geek terms? Much appreciated. Servers like mine, that are outside of the USA, are harder for the NSA to access. Servers owned by companies that have no American connections, are safest. We know that the NSA used the Secret Courts to force Microsoft, Apple, Yahoo, Google, Facebook, and just about every other software and hardware company to cooperate. They could do this because firms either were American, or in the case of a couple others, had American subsidiaries. Companies that have no American connections are harder for the NSA to attack. As to "wire snipping", if the NSA approaches an American hosting firm with a subpoena, requiring the hosting firm to install a bug (or a hard drive to record everything), the American hosting firm has no choice. If it was a Swiss hosting firm, the NSA has no leverage. Wayne madhatter.ca

Ah, but it doesn't take that much money if you use FLOSS components, and helps build your domestic industry. Wayne madhatter.ca
