Whist much has been made of Elop's
tenure at Nokia not much has been said about how it went from top-dog
into the terrible mess it now finds itself in.
Would Boos
Allen hire an engineer as a CEO ? Or Deloite's hire engineer as a
CEO? Then why oh why hire a Lawyer (wash my mouth out with soap) to
head up Nokia. What happened to Sutor, ne ultra
crepidam?
Kallasvuo (the previous Nokia CEO) being
a lawyer, he must have heard M$ diatribe against Linux (maybe
straight from the horses mouth at Redmond – after all he was a very
important CEO). The biggest software marketing company in the world
with the best lawyers, letting it be know the SCO is the rightful
owner of Linux. So as soon as the courts recognize this obvious fact
then all the mobile phone manufactures will be facing an unknown
royalty claim for every phone they have sold. One can just imagine a
M$ Executive asking him: “and then how will you face your
shareholders at the next AGM when they demand to know how you as a
lawyer allowed Nokia to sell billions of phones loaded with stolen IP
instead of the only legal alternative to Apple?!!!”
Android and Meego probable never stood
a chance.
Mikko-Pekka Heikkinen conducted some
interviews with Nokia staff a while back. It covers aspect the the
current press have not gone into. Yet it points to how the rot
started.
Here it is in 4 parts
(Please don't confuse Jorma Ollila with Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo )
Knock, Knock, Nokia's Heavy Fall...
Some might not be familiar with
Scandinavian working practices. There is more of a close team effort
than in most other countries. So for background I have included the
changes that helped make Nokia the number one mobile phone company
under Jorma Ollila before its sad decline
under Kallasvuo.
