I want to go ARM for my laptop. The main issue is heat. Battery life is also a consideration (I can get about five hours on my MacBook with only the Word Processor running). Oh, and because I type a lot, I need a really good keyboard. I've seen an Android device from Archos. Problem is, neither OpenOffice or LibreOffice is available for Android, and I know nothing about the Office Suite it does come with. Suggestions anyone? Wayne madhatter.ca

I was rather looking for a device with Linux already installed, partly because I know people with the same needs who are not technically minded, and not capable of installing Linux themselves. And yes, I know it isn't hard. Or rather it isn't hard for you or me. The people I'm talking about are the sort who have the time on their DVD Players blinking 12:00. Wayne madhatter.ca

Wayne madhatter.caAndroid is on the LibreOffice roadmap. Of course, it needs someone to pick it up and run with it ... Cheers, Wol (occasional LO developer)

I should have a novel done by the end of this month, at which point I've got another one to write Wayne madhatter.ca

Wayne madhatter.caHas anyone here used a Yeeloong Lemote? It is not ARM, but a Chinese MIPS-compatible RISC and comes with Linux. Supposedly RMS at one point used one of these. I have not, but the idea is intriguing. One link: www.tekmote.nl/epages/61504599.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/61504599/Categories/%22Lemote%20linux%20PC%20and%20Linux%20laptops%22
