Do we have someone who is willing to build a program to monitor Pacer for new filings in the court cases we want to monitor? Would prefer if the program had it's own account, and it was able to post updates about new filings here. Would also prefer if it was web based, and controllable by more than one person Wayne madhatter.ca

doesn't Pacer charge per page not just per page of a pdf? so each request to see if there are new documents costs money as well as getting any new documents of interest (at a cost per page of the pdf)
please tell me i am wrong here.....
an automated system could needlessly be wasting money

Interfacing with such a charge per access system optimally, a monitor system would not query Pacer every time a user asked it for updates, only if it hadn't checked within a certain timeframe. The results of any query would be cached so any number of users could see the results with no more traffic to Pacer than one user. My impression is that queries no more often than once a day would be in order.

If you query by case number, the system returns a no charge case summary page that contains a date of last filing. Thus no need to call up a chargeable docket report until date of last filing changes. For example:

That was what I'd been thinking of, a program to check automatically every X days (or hours, or weeks), and then post the list to a specific part of the Forums. That way we minimize traffic, while ensuring we don't miss any updates. Wayne madhatter.ca
